Prof. Dr. Andreas Hildebrandt received the "Best presentation award" at BOSC 2011
At the 12th Annual Bioinformatics Open Source Conference (BOSC 2011)in Vienna, Prof. Dr. Andreas Hildebrandt, former research at CBI Saar, now full professor at Johannes-Gutenberg university Mainz and a principal investigator at the Intel Visual Computing Institute, received the best presentation award for his talk "The BALL project: The Biochemical Algorithms Library (BALL) for Rapid Application Development in Structural Bioinformatics and its graphical user interface BALLView".
The 12th Annual Bioinformatics Open Source Conference (BOSC 2011) has taken place at the occasion of the joint 19th Annual International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) and the 10th European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB) in Vienna, Austria on July 15-16.
The Bioinformatics Open Source Conference (BOSC) is dedicated to promoting the practice and philosophy of Open Source software development within the computational biology research community. The BALL project as well as many other open source bioinformatics packages is widely used by the community providing open source software to facilitate rapid innovation, dissemination, and wide adoption of new computational methods, reusable software components, and standards.
The BALL project has been developed since 1996 at Saarland University.
